PLATES USED IN PRINTING

For the production of The Map Stamp, the Colours were printed using 3 Plates.

Black Plates - The land masses and the frame surround as wll as the stamp basics were printed from a Black Plate.

Red Plate -The Red used to denote the British Empire and the various Island Groups utilized a Red Plate.

Blue Plate - The Ocean Colours were completed with a Blue Plate.

The Black Plate required the production of 5 plates, with plates 1,2,3 & 5 being used for the production runs,
while Plate 4 was only used to produce a proof copy and was then retired.

There were two Red Plates used- which have been defined as Plate A & Plate B

There was only one Blue Plate
